Ask the people of El Salvador, whose currency has dropped and their entire future as a country is in the hands of speculators.

The coming world of decentralised finance

THE SCEPTICS have plenty of fodder. The earliest adopters of bitcoin, the original cryptocurrency, used it to buy drugs, while cyber-hackers now demand their ransom in it. Hundreds of millions of dollars of ether, another digital money, were stolen this year after hackers found a bug in some code. Many believers are in reality trying to get rich quick from the global mania that has seen the value of cryptoassets reach $2.2trn. Others are freakishly devoted. The entrepreneur who announced in June that El Salvador was adopting bitcoin as an official currency sobbed on stage, claiming it would save the nation.

Interesting read. Read on here https://www.economist.com/leaders/2021/09/18/the-beguiling-promise-of-decentralised-finance?utm_campaign=the-economist-this-week&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_source=salesforce-marketing-cloud&utm_term=2021-09-16&utm_content=ed-picks-article-link-1&etear=nl_weekly_1

Panama is also planning to legalize cryptocurrencies. Thankfully, they are not making their use mandatory like El Salvador did.

All these small banana republics with corrupt governments are being bought by BIG gangsters who hope to give cryptos legitimacy so they can con more naive people into risking their hard-earned money; just another scam in progress.

Bitcoin may still become a debate among people, but blockchain as the underlying technology is still possible to develop as open-source and protect corruption practice,  https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/07/blockchain-for-government-systems-anti-corruption/

I've been wondering about that, regarding Panama and El Salvador especially. How much of this is a genuine wish to help ordinary people and how much is desire to facilitate further corruption. :(

China is one country that works hard against crypto, but in another country has different regulations about crypto, although it's not as legal tender, because crypto does not mean as currency, some countries look crypto as securities or, commodity, some called as a crypto asset and maybe will be taxation

They will also announced they will start investigating any employees of any crypto businesses within China too.
That said, China has been banning cryptos for a while now and they haven't been all that successful. This time may be different though, we'll see.

Was dark bitcoin business so widespread during light ban? I don't understand bearish crypto reaction, wasn't the hard ban priced in?

If likely so many big investors get panic, it is possible they sell assets for security reasons, it can be following another crypto asset holder, to open short, it may increasing supply and become the reason the prices drop

I think a lot of those miners have already moved out of China before the total ban came, which is why we didn't see an apocalyptic crash of BTC's price.

I think so, maybe Kazakhstan becomes country as destination relocated miners, Currently in some countries reported face crisis energy, China, India, Europe. The energy crisis started because of the reduced supply of coal because the world wants to prevent the use of fuels that leave a carbon footprint, I think there are some miners who face this event
