DirectFX: CQG Platform
« on: July 30, 2014, 01:08:13 AM »

Hi Forex Traders,

After taking a couple year hiatus from trading foreign exchange, I am looking to get back in 'the game'. I was curious if anyone has a live account with Direct FX and is using their new CQG platform.  I was looking at a pdf of the tradable CQG symbols and noticed that they have a complete list of spot foreign exchange that is exclusively through DirectFX.  I downloaded the demo platform and was very impressed!  However, I would like to know if anyone has used the CQG auto-spreader for the new platform.  Any information on this would be very much appreciated.

Best,
Richard Ackman

I am curious about DirectFX at all. Not just their CQG Platform.
If there's someone who can leave a short review about them, please do it.

My review might be a bit biased  ;) , so I will just give some history on the company, and the goals.

Direct FX was founded in 2006, initially setup as an FCM in the United States.  In 2010 the firm moved its headquarters to Sydney, Australia and acquired an AFSL.  The firm is comprised of experienced professionals, ranging from ex-floor traders, technology experts, and a driven support team.  The firm has went through some exciting changes over the past 6 months, including the addition of two new platforms (CQG FX and Tradable).  CQG FX is a platform that we feel will bring an institutional style front end trading platform to retail forex traders.

Without being to salesy, I would recommend download a 30 day demo and trying it for yourself.  Since it is a new platform, we would welcome all feedback.  I will do my best to have all the features that traders want added.  Feel free to post what you would want added in this form, as others might want the same thing.

All the best,

Trent

Good Day all,

I just wanted to let people know that we have begun webinars on CQG FX.  The webinars are designed to go over the basics of CQG as well as compare and contrast CQG FX and MT4.  Feel free to PM me and I can send you the details to sign up.

All the best,

Hi Trent,

I appreciate the feedback.  I received an email from Direct FX last week and attended the webinar, and I must say it was very helpful.  Can you please let me know when the next webinar will be.  However, I do have a few questions for you.  During the webinar, Dean mentioned volume.  Can you please explain what he was referring to?  He also talked about the DOM trader, historically that pricing has not been very accurate.  I traded with another broker several years back and they showed a DOM, but the pricing did not line up with my orders, and I was still receiving slippage even though it said there was enough at my price.  Where is this pricing coming from, and how accurate is it?   Thank you very much.

Best,
Richard Ackman

Good Day Richard,

Thank you for the feedback.  We have been very pleased with the webinars thus far.  We are going to continue doing them for the foreseeable future to help traders understand the CQG FX platform to its fullest extent.  We are going to be doing two webinars this week so hopefully it covers most everyone's schedules, the times are listed below.  And, as always we record these so they are available a few days after the webinar.  I have PMed you links to signup for one of this weeks webinars, you can also visit the signup forms below.

Tuesday 26th August 5pm CST  - https://mpmarketing.infusionsoft.com/app/form/cqg-fx-webinar
Wednesday 27th August 8am CST - https://mpmarketing.infusionsoft.com/app/form/cqg-fx-webinar-wednesday

Regarding DOM, the volume on the DOM is very accurate, this information is coming directly from ECNs and it is the amount of volume that is available at any given price.  This should result in you receiving the price you are expecting as long as you stay within the volume range.

All the best,

Trent

I wanted to thank everyone who has given Direct FX feedback on CQG FX thus far.  We passed along all the information to CQG and they took it into consideration with their new build. As we have mentioned CQG is very determined to bring their platform to the Spot FX market and have included many of the suggestions from current demo users.

Two bits of feedback that were brought up frequently were more platform education and easier ways to execute trades.

The ways they have addressed this feedback:

-CQG created live chat buttons on the platform - This way traders can ask questions and have answers in real time

-They added a ASK CQG tab which has a ton of useful FAQ and help articles now on the platform.

-The third thing they did to make trading easier was create what they are calling the split DOM.  Basically the split dom is a depth of market ladder with One Click Trading at the top. The one click trading buttons are similar to the ones seen on MT4, but allow for all the order types that CQG supports.

Again, I and Direct FX thank everyone for their feedback thus far on CQG FX.  Please keep it coming!

All the best,

Trent
