cabash, can you tell me how you are getting your GBPUSD trades to close out?  Are you using Hedgetrimmer, or is it manual entries and then closing the 'nibbles'?

I can see that you are having some trades with no comments, so wondering about the source of those (not just GBPUSD).

If anyone is using Hedgetrimmer and thinks it is worthwhile let  me know.

Thanks!

There is a major issue with hedge trimmer if the trend did not move far enough to close all the trades in nibble. Over time it create a big gap between the high and low trades and nothing get closed while swap is increasing. Hence cant let it run on itself to expect DD is taken care unless the trend really strong enough to close all.

I remember Chris suggest to intervene by either adding manual trades or using the profit to reduce DD.

Thanks IFF.

I've not actually got the Hedgetrimmer EA or guide, but I do remember perusing it a long time ago and coming to the conclusion that it seemed quite complex and with no way to run on demo, a little risky if you don't fully understand it.

Cabash is definitely sorting things out on his AXI account so keen to learn what he is up to there...

Little update - still using this though due to the big moves on AUDCAD & NZDCAD the closing of baskets has slowed right down.  I've actually had to add some hedge Sell trades in on AUDCAD to help keep things stable and abate drawdown.

Have switched OFF EZE089 (EURUSD, GBPUSD, EURGBP) as well as trying to clear DD on those too.

There is still profit here if you can stomach the constant floating DD.  Sad to see this thread so quiet now that Chris is gone :-(  I'm still using the fruits of his labour and I think Cabash is too.

thanks for updating, Ruairi. I miss Chris so much  :'(  I would love to hear his comments on it. I think he'd be so happy that people are still trading his EA's even now.  8)

Thanks again for the update.

Donna, you are most welcome.  I miss the chat and his input in here too.  Chris' EAs are still profitable for me and I am very happy to continue using them and it does make me think of the author and just how lucky we are to be here.

Giving this a bump for Chris.

AUDCAD & NZDCAD had built up quite a bit of floating DD and my efforts to hedge were successful, but I'm manually nibbling away at the 'outliers' now that return to more normal range is underway.

It's hard to pick the botom (or top) sometimes (well, if were easy and all that, we wouldn't be in this forum asking questions, questioning our sanity!) so I had a bit of a clumsy short on AUDCAD right at the bottom which I am slowly clearing and diverting some profit from other EAs to help do so.  Hopefully getting back on track.  Of course, if I hadn't been underfunded to start with then all would have been ok.  Lesson learnt?  Probably not!

Ok - have stopped trading AUDCAD & NZDCAD pairs as open DD was becoming weary with slow profit.

Did my best to fade out of positions using profit from elsewhere (FLC in the main) but did accept a loss just to get flat with these pairs on EZE.

If anyone is still running this, I found that it was better for the individual EAs to manage their own trades rather than letting Supercat try to deal with them all.  Not possible to backtest this to prove it conclusively but just my feeling based on observing DD.

Will keep going with the other pairs...
