MT4 v228 is released
« on: November 04, 2010, 10:14:05 AM »
Metaquotes have at last released version 228.

This update apparently:-

Fixed errors in the operation of the internal mail system.
Fixed crashes of MQL4 programs caused by the use of hacking protection.
Added translation of the interface of the client terminal into Swedish.
Fixed errors reported in crash logs.

I'm not putting my live accounts back on W2008 server any time soon but will start to run demo accounts of the worst crashers. If they run for a few weeks OK I'll feel confident enough to move the live accounts back.

Nice to know that at long last Metaquotes have admitted there is a problem  ;D

Wonder what happened to version 227?

Yes, 226 was very flaky. Hopefully 228 is more stable.

thanks for the update CJ, I might take a look at that for demo also :)

Hadn't seen the update since I disabled the live-update feature on all my MT4 terminals to make restarts less hassle for me, and to stay on the more stable 225 version.

How did you disable the updates?

Not all brokers distribute the update at the same time. Some like to test it themselves first. Very wise in my opinion.

Hi, Most 'live' servers will offer it on 'weekend, market closed' days.  Demo servers will offer it any time.  So if you log in into a demo account, it may offer it any day now, while if you stay in the live one, you may get it on saturday or sunday.

I have now been offered an update to MT4 build 229 but some sources say it may contain a trojan.

I am happy with build 228 for now (some brokers aren't even offering 228 yet) so I think I'll decline.

No crashes at all with 228 by the way on either Windows 7 or Server 2008.

Same here. Build 228 seemed more stable in the short time it was running.

Strange how there were no new releases for ages, I thought maybe all development had stopped in favour of MT5. Then skipped 227 for 228 and then 229.

After my experiences with 226 I am holding off on 229 for now. At least 228 doesn't crash  ;D

Has anyone found out what updates are in 229 over 228?

I would've thought your 226 crashes were due to the Themida packer they started using.  They sorted those out in 228.

228:

Fixed errors in the operation of the internal mail system.
Fixed crashes of MQL4 programs caused by the use of hacking protection.
Added translation of the interface of the client terminal into Swedish.
Fixed errors reported in crash logs.

229:

Fixed errors in the operation of the internal mailing system.
In the Help menu of MetaEditor added a link to MQL5.com.

Thanks for that. I can see I won't be needing 229 any time soon.

I've loaded v229 for a couple of accounts, mainly to avoid being nagged about the upgrade by MT4 LiveUpdate.

v228 seems a lot more stable then v226 and is definitely worthwhile. Far fewer crashes.

Can't see anything bad about v229, so might as well upgrade.
