results with forex.com (US)
« on: June 24, 2009, 03:58:44 AM »
Hello,

Just wondering if anyone would share experiences with forex.com.  I'm ready to go live, but can't decide on a broker.  I wish I could go with Alpari Uk because that seems to be a favorite, but I live in the U.S.  I thought about Alpari U.S, but they are so new and that makes me a bit nervous.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kristi

Hi Kristi,

This is a very common dilema and all of us were there at some point in time ;). What I would suggest doing, is making a list of things that are important to you, which will help in assessing your best choices. The needs and wants of individual traders typically vary which is why the ideal broker for someone else may not be the best choice for you.

For example...

Is it important to you that the firm is regulated?
Do you have a minimum funding amount in mind?
Are you planning to hedge in your account ( if so you should look to the UK )
Would you like to trade in microlots? ( some firms like FXCM don't offer micro accounts on the MT4 platform ).

You were specifically asking about forex.com and I can tell you that the feedback we have received is mostly positive ( having said that, there will always be negative comments to be found no matter what broker is being discussed )

forex.com is actually GAIN Capital which is a very large and reputablie orgainization. They are members of the NFA in the USA and the FSA in the UK. You can open an account with as little as $250, and they do offer microlots.

They allow Americans to open an account with their UK division which means you are able to hedge ( unlike Alpari UK where American clients are prohibited ).

My biggest criticism personally is that I have received conflicting answers from their support department on a few occasions  but this this is more of a nuisance than a major issue.

Hope this helps Kristi. Feel free to send me a PM if you have any further questions.

Take care,

Gavin

Off-exchange foreign currency trading on margin carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. You should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose.

Thank you Gavin,

I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my question and your answer was very helpful.  Based on my research, I think forex.com will best meet my needs.  I wanted to start as small as possible (.01 lots) being brand new at this, but I also want to be able to trade all the currency pairs and it is my understanding that forex.com allows this.

Thanks again,

Kristi

Kristi
i use forex.com as my live account broker. thet have been helpful when i needed help very easy to fund my account deposited twice with credit card no issue at all. i recently tested the withdrawl system. once again very easy and prompt requested wire on monday evening around 9pm mountain time and the funds were in my account wed morning. my biggest fears were spreads which so far have been fair occasional high spread but never for more than an hour or so that i have seen. also was my money safe and if i requested it back 1 would they give it to me and 2 how long would it take. those were proven acceptable to me. hope this helps also when you sign up use the services of the aslan group. they have the highest reward program i know of. the extra money from this is very nice. good luck with the live account.
