Funny. I talked about the prohibition to put up new positions, but to accompany an open basket of orders before closing at a profit.

Now I am understading what do you mean...

I hope you will implement this feature in the next update of the advisor. :)

Smart Grid Challenge continues to quietly make a profit. Secure system without increasing the lot size - all trades are fixed lot size. Do not worry about the safety of your funds!

Product page: https://www.mql5.com/en/market/product/37849

hmmm don't you mean loss?! The current equity level ( ie how much money you have at this point in time) is nearly 7% lower than balance, and I am currently looking at 2 pages (50 trades per page?) of open trades on MQL5 :o It is so easy to fall in love with grids when the balance continues to grow, but ignoring equity is fatal longer term...my own view is that all systems should be forced to publish only equity curves as found with collective2.

7% isn't a big DD for this kind op systems. Now are opened trades for 16 pairs! So there are no any problems. Actually the DD for each pair isn't bigger then 1%. You should remember:

Smart Grid Challengee don't use martingale (lotsize increase), so it's much more safe! Another Grid's, which are using martingale, with this number of trades and grid size will have a big problems (like Grid King now, wheere author try manually fix crazy DD)...

Thanks - but my point being the system is in loss, not profit - you can't use a positive balance to hide an open account equity loss in the hope they will all eventually close in profit.

It's a Grid systm and it will always have negative equity. t's accumulate trades before close them: more trades in grid - biggest profit.I dont hide equity - Im just showing a profit chart, and monitoring is above, where you can see detailed information with account for floating drawdown.

Thanks but equity is what you have 'left in the bank' after taking into account balance and open positions - you can not say you are generating profits when the equity value is below the deposit amount!

Deposit = 10K
Closed trades = +220
Floating loss = -600
NET LOSS 400 to date...

Assuming you have been trading for about a month it will take another 2 to break even assuming the same performance and providing the floating loss doesn't grow any bigger  - as you say it will always be there -  assuming a 'black swan' doesn't ruin the party!

good morning Ivan,

i have download your setfiles from mql and executed some backtest with TDS2 on EURUSD, starting capital 5000 EURO, chart M30 and period from 2003 to 2006 and 2005 to 2007...

please, see the attached image, i obtain really strange result... first test have BIG LOSS at the end of 2005...
on second test the LOSS is not present (start from 2005)

why these result? what is wrong?

best regard

Hello, this is really strange. Are you using the latest version of TDS2? One of the reasons is an error during testing, which was observed in versions 2.25-2.29. However, in any case, the results are strange.

It also follows that with such systems all trades are interrelated. But soon will be update and I am sure it will be fixed ;)

hi Ivan,

i have the last stable 2.2.27
i prefer to have the stable version respect the beta.

for what i can know, all it's configured well.
also, i ask to birt for this strange result and i have a different answer from he...

Where did I say equity was a fixed loss? Your account is currently showing a net loss as you have floating drawdown larger than the closed trades - that simple) If you continue to think closed trades are net profit you could presumably continue to build your open losses indefinitely...I agree these will probably close in profit *eventually* but it will probably take months... so the account may start to show a positive *total* net return after several months...providing the market remains favourable...that is the risk..

what about opening trades only in the direction of positive swap?
so the swap helps increasing equity day after day...

Dear friends,

After 2 months of work, I want to present you a new version of EA - Smart Grid Challenge v.1.1. This version is more stable and adaptive to changing market conditions. The main idea of the adviser remained unchanged: Smart Grid Challenge is still a safe grid strategy that DOES NOT USE MARTINGALE, that is, all transactions are opened with a FIXED LOT WITHOUT INCREASE, which makes the system more secure and stable for long-term work!

Despite user requests, the OneChartMode mechanism was not implemented in this version, since the system is based at ticks, and using this function can significantly impair trading results, as well as lead to unforeseen situations. I continue to adhere to the opinion that this mode of operation makes sense to use EXCLUSIVELY for systems that operate in the Open Price Only mode, that is, at the opening of new candles. But I will try to implement OneChartMode at neext updates when I will sure in it.

The following changes are available in this update:

  • The function of stopping the opening of new transactions. Now you can stop opening new trades by setting Stop Trading = True;
  • Developed 3 portfolios from Presets: Conservative, Moderate, Aggressive;

Currently the system supports 15 currency pairs:

AUDCAD, AUDCHF, AUDJPY, AUDNZD, CADCHF, CADJPY, CHFJPY, EURCAD, EURJPY, EURUSD, NZDCAD, NZDCHF, NZDUSD, USDCAD, USDJPY

For now are available 20 preset-files:

All currency pairs and preset files are organized into various Portfolios.

Conservative portfolio

This portfolio is recommended to be used for small accounts (from $ 2500- $ 3000) and it includes 8 currency pairs, which have the lowest drawdown value and high profit factor:

Moderate portfolio

This portfolio is recommended to use for medium-sized accounts (from $ 7000- $ 9000). It includes 14 currency pairs, some of which are from the Conservative Portfolio:

Agressive portfolio

This mode includes 14 currency pairs and is designed for accounts from $ 10,000. Some of the pairs are risky enough to use, but this portfolio is designed to maximize profits!

Now system is available at MQL5 Market by Special Price - $99!

You can get more info at the product page: https://www.mql5.com/en/market/product/37849

yest but it is not needed because you con already tell to the mt4 to trade only long or short. What do you think about this strategy to avoid negative swap in grids?

Really it's a good idea to get profit from SWAP. Few years ago I always had manually opened Long positions for AUDUSD/NZDUSD to get swap ;)

Only problem could be that usually there is an high correlation between pairs and direction of positive swap. For example eurusd positive swap short, gbpusd positive swap short etc...
