Have you traded in the FOREX market?
« on: October 01, 2010, 09:51:48 AM »
Is it true you can lose 10 times what you put in? For example if I start with 100 I can actually lose 1000 off that hundred because they let you buy 10 times more than what you got?

This should not happen with a honest broker, because he will automatically close all your trades, if your losses are higher than your margin requirements. But in theory, it could happen, if there is no way to close positions on a very fast moving spike, due to the lack of liquidity and continuous requotes. But I don't know of any case in the real world.

It depends on the brokers policy.  Read the trading agreement and it should tell you whether you are responsible for negative balances on your account.

Its nice not put loss in mind that it create problem for you . Just realize loss will occur , A good thing of forex is that it give you many good chances to win.  When you trade you will get or loose its your ability what you gain most of the time in trading.

I guess risk and rewards are always associated in any business however in forex market, most of the traders fail in the start but they should let go these losses and learn from their mistakes in order to become successful.

Loss and profit is the part of this business. Both depends on how good you are at your trading. Also many factors are related to broker, that how much they allow you to trade with risk.

Here in forex profit and loss had equal chances. I Invested in my account for trading . I have to trade on given terms and conditions which my broker offer. Main thing is to manage my trading according to market so that I can make earning from it.

Yes it is possible and sometimes could end up in negative balance also.
But if the broker you are using is a good one they will eventually close the trades and wind it .

The new ESMA regulation is coming so negative balance protection should apply to all EU regulated Brokers.

It all depends on account that you use and strategy you are pursuing.Extremely risky trades can lead you to significant loss. Also if you are using leverage accounts or margin accounts it can lead you to extreme losses if you are not careful and you do not apply risk management techniques.

It depends. If broker is tricky - yeah, that could happen. So be careful with people who are you trusting your money to.
